Today, the Commission has endorsed a positive preliminary assessment of Malta's second payment request for €58.9 million, net of pre-financing, under the Recovery and Resilience Facility, the centrepiece of NextGenerationEU.

Readers in Malta now have a wider choice of European titles to read, thanks to a batch of books from all 27 EU member states added to the EU Author Library on occasion of the Day of European Authors. 

The action plan is part of the EU's strategy to boost its competitiveness and enhance its economic and social resilience.  

In its regular package of infringement decisions, the European Commission pursues legal action against Member States for failing to comply with their obligations under EU law.

Today, the Commission presented the mid-term evaluation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the EU's recovery instrument at the heart of the €800 billion NextGenerationEU (NGEU) plan.

Inflation is set to slow down faster than projected in the autumn. In the EU, Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) inflation is forecast to fall from 6.3% in 2023 to 3.0% in 2024 and 2.5% in 2025.

The key decisions taken by the Commission are presented below and grouped by policy area. The Commission is also closing 46 cases in which the issues with the Member States concerned have been solved without the Commission needing to pursue the procedure further.
