Twenty years after Maltese became an official language of the EU, in this conference we're going to reflect on the development of translation into Maltese, as well as the development of translation studies in Malta. Drawing on the participation of academics and translators, we will also reflect on how translation has affected Maltese in its own turn, and we'll have the opportunity to learn more about it through practical workshops.
During this event we'll also be hearing about the upcoming competition to recruit Maltese-language translators to the EU institutions.
This event is part of the Translating Europe Workshop series organised by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Translation. It is being organised by the DGT office in Malta together with the Department of Maltese and the Department for Translation, Terminology and Intepreting Studies at the University of Malta.
Live interpretation from Maltese into English will be available throughout the event.
