The Representations of the European Commission in the Member States play a key role in connecting the Commission with national, regional and local authorities. The Representation is pivotal in communicating with various audiences, while maintaining media relations and providing political information and analysis.
The European Commission Representation works closely with the European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO). The two Institutions are hosted under one roof in every Member State, in the ‘Houses of the European Union’.
The European Institutions on your doorstep
Europe House, inaugurated in 2009, is the Maltese home of the European Parliament and the European Commission.
The building, right in the heart of Valletta, serves as a setting for information activities including seminars, debates, exhibitions, school visits and cultural events, all with the European Union as their focal point.

Conference room
The conference space can be used free of charge for non-commercial EU-related events. Depending on the layout of the chairs, the meeting room can accommodate up to 70 people.

Environmental protection and sustainability in Europe House
The European Commission was the first EU Institution to become registered with the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and currently, 12 EU Institutions and bodies are EMAS-registered.
In support of the European Green Deal and the Commission’s commitment to become a carbon-neutral institution by 2030, the European Commission decided in 2020 to extend EMAS to the Houses of Europe located in the Member States. The Representation in Valletta is one of the first two Europe Houses selected to fulfil the EMAS requirements. In agreement with the European Parliament, EMAS is being implemented jointly with the EP Liaison Office.

Europe House already encourages all its partners to reduce the consumption of resources used in the day-to-day activities of Europe House: eliminating single-use plastic, reducing waste, and reusing and recycling as much as possible, in the pursuit of an overall smaller carbon footprint, for the benefit of all.
Under EMAS, the Commission seeks to continually improve its environmental management system and its environmental performance and therefore reduce the environmental impact of its everyday work.
The scheme ensures that all environmental aspects from energy consumption to waste and emissions are implemented in a legally compliant and transparent manner.
