In its regular package of infringement decisions, the European Commission pursues legal action against Member States for failing to comply with their obligations under EU law.

The Commission has today published its fifth annual Rule of Law Report, examining systematically and objectively rule of law developments in all Member States on an equal basis.

“Investing in Education” is part of DG EAC’s in-house activities for the public of the European Commission’s Learning Lab on Investing in Quality Education and Training, which supports EU countries in further developing a culture of evaluation in education.

The key decisions taken by the Commission are presented below and grouped by policy area. The Commission is also closing 74 cases in which the issues with the Member States concerned have been solved without the Commission needing to pursue the procedure further.

This forecast is based on a set of technical assumptions concerning exchange rates, interest rates and commodity prices with a cut-off date of 25 April.

The Commission took action to combat shortages, starting with a Communication presenting actions to better prevent and mitigate critical medicine shortages in the EU, adopted by the Commission on 24 October 2023 and followed by a first Union list of critical medicines by the EMA on 12 December 2023.

In support of President Ursula von der Leyen's priority to build a European Democracy Fit for the Future, the European Citizens' Panels and online citizens' engagement tools have been embedded as a feature of democratic life in the EU.
